After our first meeting with the new team a couple of weeks ago we are now in a position to announce that the Beggars Fair 2013 Youth Stage will be going ahead.

New Team. Join Us
It’s been a while since we’ve had much activity as a Youth Council, however, this is about to change. Today we had a meetup with a group of young people interested in joining and making Romsey the place it should be for Young People.
From this we’ve set a date for our next meeting: Tuesday 19th March, 18:00-19:30 @ Youth in Romsey. The meeting is open to anyone who’s interested in joining. For the near future we will be concentrating on the Beggars Fair Youth Festival. But we have other projects starting and if you have something you want additional support for, come along and tell us!
Beggars Fair 2013 Youth Stage
Over the past couple of weeks we’ve been asked (a lot), what’s happening with the Beggars Fair stage? Can band/artists apply to play yet? among others.
We are planning to go ahead once again this year and will open for applications from bands/artists in a few weeks. If you’d like to get involved with the organisation and running of the event, we’d love to hear from you!

We’ve left it a bit late but anyway we’d like to thank everyone who supported us on the day, the bands, RYC team, Gordon Clarke and everyone that turned up!

Hopefully we will be able to get support for running the event in 2012 due to there being a lot of time and effort put in even before the day we are always looking for new members and of course financial support to put these sort of events together. This year for our annual Beggars Fair Youth Stage we have had an amazing number of artists apply to play! As you may know if you follow our Twitter or Facebook Page we have announced the lineup. For those of you unaware or unsure of it the event is a free public music festival that promotes our local music talent. The event this year is to be held on Saturday 14th July 2012 between 12-6PM.
Once again we have the lovely big stage booked, lots of brilliant music and some stalls from Naomi House who we are supporting again this year. Also joining us in the park will the the Romsey Arts Group.
As you may be aware, the weather has been typical British weather (rain) however we are still hoping to go ahead with the festival. To keep updated with any changes or announcements please follow our Twitter and Facebook Page. We shall post/tweet at the very latest Friday (13th July 2012) at 1pm stating whether the event is definitely on/off.

I know it’s february already and this post is kind of marking the first of the new year but anyway, we’ve had a break and are now back and raring to go. We are starting to prepare for our now well known Youth Stage during the Beggars Fair which will be happening (all being well) on Saturday 14th July 2012. Any bands or interested in playing please and anyone interested in helping out let us know… have a look at the mini site for more info.
We are also going to be popping into Romsey and Mountbatten Schools in the near future to hold meetings for anyone interested in joining us or just helping out at the odd event but we shall keep you informed about when they are here, on Facebook and on Twitter.
We have some news for you!
First of all we are currently one of Waitrose’s (Romsey) charities for December, so when you are shopping there make sure you get a green token and drop it in the Romsey Youth Council Section! The money that we get will be going directly towards the Beggars Fair Youth Stage 2012 and possibly a few Youth Gigs at The Lantern (Mountbatten School) beforehand.
Beggars Fair comes round very quickly as there is a lot of work in making it happen, If you would like to help we will be having a meetup in January and will be inviting new members along.

We have been very busy organising the youth festival in Memorial Park for saturday 9th July 2011. We are working with Naomi House and Jacks Place (hospice for children and young adults) to offer a variety of different activities for everyone to take part in whilst enjoying the 9 musical acts we have playing on the main stage.
